Thumb Prints
Ingredients
- Butter - 1 cup
- Brown Sugar - 1 cup, firmly packed
- Egg - 1
- Egg Yolk - 1
- Egg White - 1
- Flour - 2 cups
- Baking Powder - 1 tsp.
- Water - 1 tsp.
- Chopped Walnuts
- Apricot Preserves - 1 jar
Instructions
Cream butter and brown sugar together until blended well; mix in one whole egg and one egg yolk; blend. Sift flour and baking powder together, gradually add to creamed mixture. Blending after each addition. Combine egg white and water in small bowl and mix well. Set aside. Shape dough into 3/4 inch balls and dip in egg white mixture. Then roll in chopped nuts. Place one inch apart on greased cookie sheet. Make indentation in center of each ball by pressing down with thumb. Place about 1/4 teaspoon of apricot preserve in each hole. Bake at 375° for about 12 minutes. Cool on rack.
